If this job hasn't been done correctly, it not only looks ugly but can cause leaks for your downstairs neighbours!

Siliconing (also known as sealing or masticing) around baths, showers and basins is one of those jobs that requires confidence as well as technique. The time-consuming part is removing the old silicone and this needs to be done before you can apply a new bead. You can do this using a blade from a stanley knife.

Handy hint

Make sure that your bathroom is bone dry before calling us out (don't use your shower for at least 8 hours beforehand) in order to make the job go nice and quickly!

Typical duration

  • Remove silicone from around bath or shower tray = 40 mins
  • Remove silicone from around basin = 15 mins
  • Apply new silicone around bath or shower tray = 20 mins
  • Apply new silicone around basin = 10 mins
